This piece was restored to its original glory by a careful
dissassembly/repair/strip/sand/refinish and wax procedure. The table
was made in the 1870s from maple turned legs and mahogany veneered tops.
The veneer was peeling, the joints loose (hyde glue turns to dust after
about 50 years), and the finish had turned nearly black.
A brass paint detail was added around the legs. |
