Made of white oak, this desk has design elements researched from historical examples of the late Jacobean period (1605-1700), including bun feet, split turnings, and carvings. The arched open area contains fitted drawers, a concealed halogen lamp (the power cord runs inside a groove behind one of the columns), and letter dividers. The surfaces were all prepared with hand planes, cabinet scrapers, and other hand tools (no sanding) and then "aged" to look 300 years old. |
