Manufactured in May of 1940, this solid red oak buffet was showing its age: the top was split and had to be repaired, the drawer bottom was broken and was replaced, and most of the joints had loosened and were re-secured. Additionally, the old finish was completely sanded to bare wood and coated with black laquer and top-coated with several coats of clear urethane. The pulls were replaced, and the original steel hinges were buffed and "blackened" with gun blue chemicals. |
