These frames are made of solid poplar with maple trim and feet (upholstery will be added later, by others). The squares are mortised and tenoned together, the maple trim is attached with tongue-and-groove joinery, and the uprights and feet are secured with dowels. Each upright is cut from solid stock on the bandsaw to form the unique shape of these ottomans. White oak bracing was added to the narrow portion of the uprights for extra strength. An antiqued finish was applied to the exposed portions of the ottomans. |
