Made of dovetailed pine with oak skirting, this project was inspired by sea chests, journeyman tool chests, and treasure chests from the 17th-19th centuries. A hand-made brass latch is the only ornamentation on an exterior made to look battered and worn from 300 years of use. The inside, however, is richly detailed with hand-carved initials, gold borders, exotic wood inlays, and a furniture finish. A false bottom conceals more treasures.
