The old, dusty parts were delivered to the shop in pieces. Years of
improper storage in a basement had taken their toll, from spatters of
sheet-rock mud, to scratches and splits. Oh, and the original top was
missing and had to be recreated in the style of the base parts. A
complete inch-by-inch restoration of all the base parts was followed by
assembly. Meanwhile, a new top was made with custom trim, and the white
oak wood stained to exactly match the 130-year-old base.
The table is now the centerpiece of the entry foyer of a mansion in
Kennesaw, Georgia. |
