This all-cherry mantel is over 8 feet long and is mounted above eye-level; there is also a matching chimney wrap up at the 14-foot high ceiling. An elaborate frame system helped keep the weight down and made possible the mounting of an electrical outlet in the mantel for the flat screen TV. The real focal points, however, are the hand-carved panels and corbels that were created by Jorge Posada, a master carver who was a delight to work with. |
