Black carpet, black wallpaper, and black room trim made it a natural for this wallbed to also follow suit; the birch plywood and maple lumber were first dyed black, then stained black, and finally coated with black-tinted clear coats. The bed opens onto small, cube supports that are stored away when the bed is closed. As is the case with most of my wallbed photos, my toolbox is the counterweight for the open bed, as the mattress hadn't arrived. A Black Onyx Desk was made along with this wallbed project.
