The main wood for this box is mahogany, which was dovetailed at the corners, and tongue and grooved for the lid boards. Quarter-sawn white oak for the skirting and walnut for the interior parts finish out the details. Exterior hardware was "aged" using a proprietary process of The Colonial Cabinet Shop; the handles were attached with old fashioned "cut nails" and clinched inside. The lid is hand-carved with the client's initials. A Winchester M1897 carbine (a replica from Rossi chambered in .45 long Colt) is cradled in royal blue crushed velvet-lined walnut brackets. The interior features a cleaning rod holder, a small storage box for ammunition, and a Texas Rangers badge replica. |
