This is really a movable tree stump with interior storage; the cabinet sides are 2" thick hickory with a 3" thick top and 4" thick bottom. It needed to be very solid to support the 110-pound anvil (made in Russia, probably from an old WWII T-34 tank), as well as the pounding it would take in use. The steel straps and hinges were made on the anvil right in the shop. The rings are for pulling it to the work space, and are also handy for storing hammers. The steel and wood were given an aged look for flair.
