Patriot 1940s Cedar Chest Restoration Patriot

This was manufactured very shortly after World War II by Lane; the "V" design may be inspired by our victory in WWII. Unlike present-day factory(particle-board) cedar chests, this one is solid aromatic cedar with walnut veneer applied to the exterior. Restoration work included replacing the missing and chipped veneer on the curved part of the base (as seen in one of the photos), partially sanding-down the heavily scratched finish (just the worst, outer layers), touch-up staining, clear coating the entire piece, cleaning and re-activating the interior cedar with a light sanding, various repairs, and milling a new button latch for the lock from a hex bolt.
