Several fireplaces at Colonial Williamsburg were the inspiration for this mantel (and arched "brick" surround). The piece was made for the office of The Colonial Cabinet Shop, as part of a complete remodeling effort. Most of the mantel is made of 3/4" birch plywood and poplar lumber; with a few exceptions, the trims were shop-made.
